The Dribble Drive Motion Offense is one of the top offenses in today’s game. Players love to attack the rim going downhill towards the basket and shoot the open 3. Coach Holtmann uses the dribble drive to create lots of scoring advantages and put pressure on the defense.

In this video, Holtmann takes you through a simple Dribble Drive alignment and fundamental flow within your offense. Combine it with the baseline out of bounds sets shared and you’ve got a complete offensive package!

Dribble Drive Motion Offense
In Flow Corner Offense, Coach Holtmann will guide you through the basic setup of the Dribble Drive. Having a post player line up away from the ball in the short corner gives your perimeter players the opportunity to attack the paint and draw two defenders. Starting your action with a ball screen or a blur cut will get your offense moving and primed to attack.

Players will learn the rules of the Dribble Drive: Follow your pass, ‘pass don’t dribble’ handoff, weak side movement/interchange, and cut behind the blind defender. These will help you put pressure on the defense especially if your opponent is in foul trouble. Using this offense to create free throw opportunities can help you stretch your lead out.

As he points out, the Dribble Drive thrives on getting opposing defenses to collapse so your players are going to learn to attack advantages with pace and timing!

Baseline Out of Bounds
Coach Holtmann outlines 9 different actions using the same offensive setup. Using the post players in a stack set and off the lane line and having your best passer underneath the basket and taking the ball out of bounds you can offset your perimeter shooters. This alignment will give you multiple options to get an easy bucket.

From a catch and shoot option for your guards to over the top look for your post players to a scoring option for a catch and shoot 3 to late clock options, you will find something to add to your playbook!

Motion offense creates scoring opportunities and creates confusion with the defense. The Dribble Drive is a simple offense that players love to play and the scoring opportunities help your players get to the free throw line and put constant pressure on the defense. Combined with 9 different actions out of bounds and you’ve got a recipe for offensive success!
